Court of Honor - Nov. 2013
The Scouts earned quite a number of awards, since the last Court of Honor in May. We had at least ten (10) ranks earned, including one Life, and over 40 merit badges. Here are a couple of photos from the event.

Mr. Robert M. Gates to be new BSA National President.
Robert M. Gates, a Distinguished Eagle Scout and our nation’s 22nd
secretary of defense, has been elected to the national executive board
of the Boy Scouts of America. Gates will serve as a member of the
executive committee and as the national president-elect.
This move means that upon approval of voting members of the National Council, Gates would begin a two-year term as the BSA national president in May 2014. The national president works alongside Chief Scout Executive Wayne Brock and National Commissioner Tico Perez to form the National Key 3 that guides the organization.

Goshen 2013
On Saturday June 30, The BSA Troop 466 went to Camp Bowman on Goshen Scout Reservation.
The Scouts that went were Evan, Colin, Jude, Josh, Devin, Oliver, Ian, Johnny, Aidan, James, Christian, Rowan, and Jimmy. Then the adult leaders who attended were Mr. Tom R., Mr. John H., Mr. Jack M. and Mr. Dan C.
The week was very rainy but we all pulled through, and we won the honor oar for most organized campsite.
All the scouts had a great time, from earning their Merit Badges to hearing stories like The White Gorilla, the 2013 Goshen trip was a blast!
At the end of week Bishop Knestout came to lunch with the troop and he exchanged his knowledge about boy scouts with the troop.
Although showing up to camp Bowman with camp fire hill being blown away was a new and hard change to deal with. It was blown up because of the new spillway. But overall Camp Bowman 2023 was a great year and were all excited for next year!

Archdiocese of Washington Youth Protection Policy
The Archdiocese of Washington requires that any adult who seeks
to give volunteer service with an Archdiocesan school, parish, agency or
ministry that will involved substantial contact with children, must prior to
beginning service:
1. Complete this application and return to the Parish
Coordinator responsible for this program. Form: http://site.adw.org/pdfs/cpp_volapp2006.pdf.
2. Register online on www.virtus.org for a child protection
workshop. The current schedule can be found here: http://site.adw.org/schedule-and-sign-up
It really does not matter where you take it, as long as you take it.
3. Call for an appointment for fingerprinting and
use the Authorization form when you go to the
appointment.
4. Undergo a criminal background check at the time of
fingerprinting and have the results cleared by the Office of Human Resources.

Court of Honor
On the 20th of May 2013, BSA Troop 466 celebrated our semi-annual
Court of Honor. During this event people are awarded for their
achievements in Boy Scouts. Several of these Scouts achieved merit badges,
higher scout ranks and badges for their good deeds to the community. This
event happened on a Monday at 7 p.m. sharp.
One of the biggest talks was current Scoutmaster Joseph Barone
stepping down. The new Scoutmaster is Mr. Tom Rogers.
This year’s court of honor got a spectacular attendance and we
are excited about next year! Also, congrats to Mr. John Walsh who
just got married!
Once again congratulations to all Scouts earning merit badges
and higher ranks in scouting.

A Changing of the Guard
Greetings:
We are sorry that we have not published for a while, but we have transitioned to a new Scoutmaster, the Scouts have gone to Goshen (both as a troop and as provisional), and two members of the troop (one adult and one Scout) went to the National Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve. It has been a pretty busy time for all involved.
However, we wanted to share with you some photos from the May 2013 Court of Honor. At this event, Mr. Barone stepped down as Scoutmaster (2010-2013) and Mr. Rogers took over. Mr. Rogers was presented with the official symbol of office: The Troop Scoutmaster Staff.

April Campout
The camp trip on April 13-14 at
Little Bennett was excellent. When I got there the first thing that Mr. Barone,
Mr. Incognito, Chris B., Aiden M., and I, Josh R. did was an easy but scenic
hike with a peanut butter and jelly lunch along the way. When we got back we
started dinner which was a version of a dutch oven chicken burrito bowl. For
dessert we had a wonderful peach cobbler. Luckily it did not get too cold that
night so we all had nice night of sleep.
