Troop 466 has held a Christmas Tree Sale almost every year since 1962, as their only fundraiser.

This fundraiser was used to raise funds for their Big Trip Out West (BTOW) to either Grand Teton/Yellowstone or Olympic National Park.  Currently, it is used to raise funds for Summer Camp, Courts of Honor, etc.

Enjoy this video, created from photos of the Christmas Tree Sale from 2009 thru 2016.

Troop 466 is sponsored by St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, located at 10103 Georgia Ave. Silver Spring, MD. Troop 466 is part of Potomac District in the National Capital Area Council (NCAC).

Luke's Eagle Scout Project (Part 3)

Although a great deal of work was completed on Day One, there was still more work to be completed.  So on the second day, the two main backdrops were painted and the movable door was put together.

Luke's Eagle Scout Project (Part Two)

Here are some additional photos from Luke's Eagle Project.  Here we see two of the Scouts installing the castors at the bottom of the frames.  The frames were probably 30lbs pounds, the wheels were rated for 100lbs.

Luke's Eagle Scout Project (Part One)

After getting his Eagle Scout Project approved by the Potomac District Eagle Board Chair, work was undertaken on Sunday, June 4th.

The project was to build three mobile backdrops for the St. John School Auditorium Stage.  Two would be just backdrops and the third would have a door.  This could be used for plays and productions.  It should be noted that the door could also act as a backdrop.

So, here are some photos from the construction.  In these photos, they are cutting the 2x4s for the backdrop frames.

December 2022 Court of Honor (Part 1)

The December 2022 Court of Honor presented a number of ranks and merit badges to our Scouts.  Some badges went back to 2021, as the pandemic put a damper on these events.

We were pleased to have Fr. Calis, our sponsor, at the awards portion.

Helping Decorate the Church for Christmas

A couple of Scouts and parents were kind enough to assist with helping to decorate the Church on Sunday, December 18th.  Here are some photos from that event.

You can see the Scouts in the Choir Loft pulling up the Christmas Wreath.

Here are some of the Scouts in the Choir loft.

Goshen - Service Project (Summer 2022)

At Goshen, most troops will do some sort of service project.  In some instances, they may be small beautification projects, such as repainting signs and other times, it may be a major improvement.

This time, it looks like the troop restored and repainted a Patrol Box.  For those who are unaware, a Patrol Box is meant to store pots, pans, cooking utensils, nonperishable foods, etc. and to be animal proof.

Enjoy the photos!

Goshen - Campwide Campfire (Summer 2022)

Each week, there is at least one camp wide campfire.  For those who do not know, campfires are filled with songs and skits and songs and sometime just plain sillyness.

Enjoy the photos!

St. John's Parish Picnic (Sept. 10, 2022)

Boy Scout Troop 466 participated in support the St. John the Evangelist Parish Picnic.  We did so in two ways.  First, we organized some games for the children, including a pick-up basketball game or two.  Second, we handled traffic duty on Woodland drive from 8am to 4pm.

Here are some photos of the troop in action.
