BTOW17: The Campfire!

After the Hancock Dinner, we had a traditional Boy Scout Campfire.  Each patrol had to sing a song, and put on a skit.  Even ASM Joseph B. got up and told some bad jokes!

BTOW17: Granite Canyon Hike

Four Scouts and four Scouts hiked into Granite Canyon and then out the next day.   We started at Grand Teton Village, as parking at the Trail Head was closed due to road construction.  This added a bit to the hike.

On the way up, we met a Park Ranger, who was a retired firefighter, who told us about his work.   It also rained and it made the hike up miserable, especially for the writer of this blog post.  We also had the problem of finding the group campsite, as the campsites were only marked "campsite."

We had lunch and are now getting ready to hike up the trail!

BTOW17: Making the Best of a Rainy Day

While the older Scouts were out on Death Canyon and Cascade Canyon, we decided to visit both the Jenny Lake Visitor Center and the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center.

BTOW17: The All American Passtime!

While most of the older scouts were out hiking Death Canyon and Cascade Canyon, the younger Scouts one afternoon decided to play a little baseball.  Here are some of the photos from that fun afternoon!

Notice the baseball bat.

Asst. SM Joseph S. was telling us all about how baseball was played over 150 years ago.  I mean, he was there.

How did the bat wind up in the tree?

The batter is up!

BTOW17: Hermitage Point/Swan Lake Hike

On our first full day, we always take a hike to get ourselves acclimated to the altitude and get our muscles going.

We decided to take a hike in the area of Hermitage Point/Swan Lake.

BTOW17: Visiting Jackson Lake near the Campsite

A couple of us hear that the lake was nearby, so we decided to head out from the campsite and down the trail to Jackson Lake.  This is what we saw!

BTOW17: Arrival at Coulter Bay

Well, we finally arrived at Group Campsite #4 in Coulter Bay.   Now, it is time to figure out where the tents will go, dining tarps, etc.
