Goshen Scout Camp Follow-up

Well folks, we have returned from a successful and safe week at Goshen Scout Camp - Camp Bowman.

Thirteen Scouts and four adult leaders attended.

Some of the highlights:

  • A total of 74 merit badges were completed, with almost all Scouts earning at least 5 each.

  • All Scouts and Leaders earned the 2008-2009 Duty to God Achievement. This required that grace be said before all meals, attendance at Mass and the reviewing of at least two Devotionals.

  • Our Chaplain's Aide received training by Msgr. John Brady of the Archdiocese of Washington DC.

  • Four Scouts completed the Mile Swim Award.

  • Four Scouts and three leaders completed the Polar Bear Swim.

  • All of the Adult Leaders earned the Camp Bowman Adult Achievement Award.

  • The Scouts won the Water Carnival, Campsite Award and Dessert Contest. In fact, we won first, second and third place in the dessert contest with brownies, spice cake and a special "frozen" dish.

  • The following service projects were completed: repainting of the Fire Danger sign, repainting of the Camp Bowman Trading Post sign, the new Nature Trail sign and clearing of a trail.
